05/13/1930 - 04/03/2011

Nancy A. Verch Nancy A. Verch, 80, of Bloomington passed away on Sunday April 3, 2011 at Garden Villa nursing home. She was born on May 13, 1930 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Clifford and Gertrude Cederlund. She was married to Edward E. Verch of Chicago, IL for 25 years. Nancy was an excellent administrative assistant at E.R. Moore in Des Plaines, IL, Oakton Community College in Des Plaines,IL, and until retirement at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, FL. Nancy loved to walk on the beach in Florida and lived there for 20 years, fulfilling a life-long dream. Clowns and butterflies brought her joy. Nancy enjoyed learning new and unfamiliar things. She was introduced to computers in the early eighties while taking courses at Oakton Community College, and subsequently became the first in the family to own a p.c. She was a very creative person who loved colors and textures. She expressed her creativity in embroidering, cross-stitching, knitting, crocheting, sewing clothing, and making beautiful quilts. She generously gifted these creations to those she loved. She moved to Bloomington in 2005 to be near family and was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. Survivors include her two children: her son, Neal Verch and daughter, Gail Pontius (Brad) of Bloomington; and three grandchildren, Claire (John) Roth of Bloomington, Joel (Laura) Pontius of Laramie, WY, and Jesse Pontius of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bernard Cederlund. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Southern Hills Youth for Christ, P.O. We were sad for your family to hear of Nancy's passing. She loved her family very much and proudly and lovingly spoke of each of you. Her faith in God was evident to all and we know she is at peace now. She always had a smile to share in spite of her physical limitations and I will miss her very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you...

I miss Nancy calling me "Oscar" already. When I first met her, she couldn't remember my name for anything. No matter how many times she asked my name, she would always revert back to calling me "Oscar". In Nancy eyes... I'm "Oscar".

Thanks Nancy,
May Peace Be With You

I always enjoyed your mom & you(Gail) sitting together at church. I didn't know her very well, but could tell she was a fine lady. I know you will miss her. I wish I had known she was in Garden Villa, as that is close to us and I would have visited her. May God bless you and your family, giving you strength & comfort in the coming days. It's comforting to know we will see her again one day in Heaven. If we can do anything to help you let us know. We miss you sitting with us at church. Your mom was a real sweet lady. God be with all of you!

I miss Nancy already. I have been thinking about her daily since she passed. I miss our talks, I miss asking her what book she is reading and looking at cross stitch patterns. I even miss "Henry". Your mother was a very good and bright person. I know she is in a better place but this place just isn't the same without her. May God be with you during your time of loss and Nancy will be truly missed by many at Garden Villa. God Bless- Angelia Maxwell

My thoughts and prayers are with you Gail and your family! I will always remember that cute St. Pattys day picture of your mom you showed me while in Guatemala in March. What a remarkable lady, just as you are!

I was Nancy's nurse and we became fast friends. She was one of my biggest cheerleaders, and I loved her dearly. I miss her very much.
