Margaret "Rita" (Murphy) Ponton
Margaret "Rita"(Murphy) Ponton, 77, of Bloomington, passed away on Sunday May 6, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital surrounded by her family. Rita was born January 19, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Margaret Mary (Holzapfel) Murphy. She graduated in 1958 with the first class of Scecina Memorial High School. Rita was a Homemaker and had also worked at L.S. Ayres, Macy's and Carpets Plus Color Tile. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and entertaining, and especially loved time spent with her girls, grandchildren, and friends.
Rita is survived by 6 daughters; Michelle Kleindorfer (Rick) of Unionville, Lynnette Simon of Bloomington, Lisa Bybee of Bloomington, Angie Smith (Jeff) of Cincinnati, OH, Theresa Arthur (Ron) of Bloomington and Beth Keenan (Kelly) of Beech Grove, IN. Also surviving are 2 sisters; Catherine Klee of Indianapolis, IN, Maureen Eaton of Greenwood, IN, brother, Steve Murphy (Karen) of Fortville, IN, 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Rick Kleindorfer, and her former husband Fred Ponton.
Visitation for Rita will be Wednesday May 9, 2018 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday. Visitation will also be from 9:30 am until service time on Thursday at the church.
Funeral Mass for Rita will be 10:30 am Thursday May 10, 2018 at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church 4607 W. State Road 46 Bloomington with Father Daniel Mahan presiding.
