Gary Lee  Hampton Jr.
Gary Lee Hampton Jr., 51 of Spencer passed away suddenly Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his home in Spencer.
Born, February 2, 1966 in Bloomington, he was the son of Gary and Linda (Tarter) Hampton.
Gary was best known to his parents and sister as "Dude," to his daughters as "Dad or Big Daddy Cane," and to his grandchildren as "Pappy or Pappster"
He graduated from Bloomington High School South in 1984. He attended Vincennes University and Indiana University.
Gary was the Convenience Store Operations Manager for Wabash Foods for over 20 years.
Survivors include his daughters, Meghann Fishel (Daniel), and Whitney Hampton (Daniel Smith) all of Ellettsville, four granddaughters, Adrianna, Avery, Kristin, and Catherine, one grandson, Joseph, his parents, one sister, Debbie Dennison (John Ayers), and three nephews, Tyler, Austin, and Ashton.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ancil and Laverene Tarter, Artie and Ada Hampton, and nephew, Corey Joe Dennison.
To know him was to love him. His contagious smile and laughter will never be forgotten. We will miss him but we know we will all meet again someday.
Visitation will be 11am-2pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Brother Bruce Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Gross Cemetery in Owen County.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Wheeler Mission Ministries, wheelermission.org in Bloomington.
