John Paul Helms
John Paul Helms, 55, of Bloomington passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center.
Born, October 17, 1961 in Monroe County, he was the son of Phillip Eugene Helms and Mary A. (Stidd) Shields.
John was the manager of the shipping department at Channel Core for 15 years, and he was employed as a custodian for MCCSC and a maintenance worker for the City of Bloomington.
He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
John was a loving father, grandfather, and son who enjoyed playing drums in his band for The Lloyd Wood Show and many others, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include one son, Brandon Helms, one grandson, Kale Helms, his loving mother, Mary A. Shields, uncle, Paul Helms (Carol), and his aunt Wilma all of Bloomington. He was also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son.
Visitation will be 10:30am-1:30pm Friday, March 24, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 1:30pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with John Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery in Brown County.
